- Building / Structural Code Changes 2018 - 2021
- Plumbing Code Changes 2018 - 2021
- Mechanical / Gas Code Changes 2018 - 2021
- Common Code Violations and Construction Defects

Description

Day II :: Saturday July 27

Recent Code Changes
Common Code Violations & Construction Defects
by England Training Division

This first six hours of this class will discuss the changes to the 2021 IRC.

The final 2-hours will cover 10 common code violations and construction defects in one- and two-family dwellings. The subjects to be covered will include required egress windows and smoke alarms in habitable attics, locations and operation of smoke alarms, required safety glazing, townhouse occupancies, required dwelling setbacks from designated fire lines, cutting and notching of framing members, concrete and masonry code provisions, exterior stucco applications and roofing installations.

England Training Division, LLC was established in 1992 as the only company in the southeast to assist federal, state and local jurisdictions with the training and implementation of the International Building Codes. Their staff has always helped the new inspector as well as the seasoned professional with the ultimate mission of “Helping Jurisdictions Build Safer Communities”.

Our speaker for Day II, Mr. John England, CBO, MCP, CFM, has extensive experience working with, teaching about and enforcing building codes.

Professional Experience

Mr. England has, for the past 40 years, been involved in the building construction process. Over the years he has given much to the building community.  He feels a sense of duty to lend his experience and expertise, in various ways, to insure materials, construction techniques and the personnel that spec, install or inspect them provide the public with the highest level of safety reasonably possible.

As one can see, Mr. England's experience is both deep and wide.

1980 England Construction Inc. was started. This company specialized in repairing homes for the private and public sectors. The company was closed in 1985 due to economic downturn.

1992 England Enterprises Inc. and Aardvark Home Inspections LLC were formed in Charleston, SC. Over the past 20+ years they have expanded operations to include inspections, education and consulting in the construction process.

2000 England Enterprises Training Division LLC was launched as a separate company to accommodate the ever-expanding building codes training demand.

2003 Partnered with a Nevada-based computer company to start SecureDocs LLC, an online permitting and inspection program. This company targeted smaller jurisdictions and provided a way to track permits.

2003 Aardvark Home Inspections was sold. At this time, England Enterprises made the decision to concentrate on commercial code inspections for the State of South Carolina Engineers Office and Building Code training for municipal, state and federal clients.

2005 England Enterprises Inc. expanded by adding an engineering division. This enabled it to provide energy assessments and audits to private and government facilities.

2012 England Enterprises Inc. was acquired by Safebuilt Inc., Loveland, Colorado. This gave England, and his remaining staff members, the freedom to expand England Enterprises Training Division, LLC and start England Consulting LLC.
